Despite classic training at an Arts & Sciences school, I was advised against an impractical route & decided to study languages with a plan to practice international law.  I could always paint & create, no matter what… right?  There was a tinge of something I didn't understand -- a feeling that would surface many more times over the years.

I didn't know it to be jealousy when my architecture roomie came home in a frantic whirlwind.  I'd help by night — cutting images from magazines & gluing slivers of balsa wood — getting my fix.  I carried on, devoting spare minutes in my schedule to art classes, design, photography, blogging... even selling doodles to tattoo parlors.  With very little wherewithal after graduation, it came down to shuffling legal documents for seven dollars an hour, or EIGHT DOLLARS at a cryptic/alluring new company downtown.  I wasn't quite sure what they did.  Movies or something?

I was propelled into a weird world of costuming, c-stands and slime-monsters.  Completely absorbed, I'd never felt more useful with my seemingly-useless collection of talents.  And then it hit me.  Someone would actually PAY me for THIS.

The rest is a catapult through production, film posters, cameras and ultimately, compositing.  It seemed to combine what I'd learned about how lenses affect life, light and the necessary cohesion between on-set and post production.  

So yeah, it's not traditional... but I believe that’s often what makes a unique leader, teammate & problem solver.
